What comes next from turtle with seatbelt

The bottom player is in turtle (on elbows and knees), and the attacker has a seatbelt grip: one arm over the shoulder, one under the arm. The attacker is winning, and the hooks come next. The bottom player must escape before the hooks go in.

If you are the attacker

Best The choice that works most often here.

  • Insert the hooks and roll to back control

Put in the near hook (a foot inside their thigh), then roll to the seatbelt side. Put in the far hook for back control and 4 points.

    Leads to back control ›

Good Works well with the right setup.

  • Break them down to the side

Pull them onto your hip so they fall to the side, then put your hooks in. You get back control for 4 points.

    Leads to back control ›
  • Hold the seatbelt

Keep your chest on their back and your hands locked. They cannot turn toward you.

    You stay in this position.

Risky Can work, but often goes wrong.

  • Rear naked choke from the turtle

You can try the choke without hooks, but they can roll out. If they do, you are back in turtle.

Ends the match if it works: a submission.

If you are the turtled

Good Works well with the right setup.

  • Shoulder roll through to guard

Roll over your shoulder before the hooks go in. You come up facing them in closed guard.

    Leads to closed guard ›
  • Sit through to the open side

Sit through to the open side, away from the seatbelt arm, and turn to face them. You are back in open guard.

    Leads to open guard ›
  • Protect the neck, knees tight

Fight their choking hand and keep your knees together. Then the hooks cannot go in.

    You stay in this position.

Mistake Avoid this: it usually makes things worse.

  • Stand up and run

Standing up while they hold a seatbelt is a mistake. They take you down and already have your back.

Usually goes wrong. Choose a better option above.
