BJJ gi techniques

There are 9 gi-only techniques in Rolla's library. They use the collar, sleeve or trousers of the gi, so they do not work in no-gi.

The gi is the jacket, belt and trousers you train in. You can grab it, so it adds chokes and guards that no-gi does not have.

Gi chokes

Gi guards

Gi grips

Many moves work in both, but feel different in the gi. These pages explain the grips.

You train no-gi and your partner turtles. Which choke can you NOT use?

Train it on the Path

The Spider and cross-grip guard unit turns this into short lessons: you see a position and pick the best move.

Spider and cross-grip guard is part of the Purple belt, included in Rolla Plus. Start free with Foundations and the white belt.
